Peter Chiarelli

Peter Chiarelli dedicated nearly 40 years to the United States Army, including serving as Senior Military Assistant to Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates. During two tours in Iraq, he pioneered efforts to restore government and economic stability and essential services. As Vice Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense, Chiarelli addressed post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and suicide prevention. Since retiring from the Army in 2012, he has continued to work on these issues.
